While planning our trip to Kuala Lumpur during the Christmas season, I was on the lookout for a good restaurant to have our Christmas Eve dinner in. It was our first time spending Christmas abroad, so I wanted to make sure that the restaurant I chose would be of great quality. Luckily, I came across Gobo Chit Chat’s Seafood Buffet, which is one of the best places to get your seafood fix in Malaysia. Fortunately, it’s located in the very same hotel we were staying in – Traders Hotel. First off, it’s important to note that Gobo Chit Chat is a dinner buffet restaurant (they have a la carte during the day) with their dinner selection scheduled accordingly:
- Monday to Thursday – International Buffet Dinner
- Friday & Saturday – Seafood Night
As we were there on a Sunday – on Christmas Eve, this post will focus primarily on Gobo Chit Chat’s Seafood Buffet Dinner. In addition to the seafood selection, they also have several other selections from sushi to cheeses, local dishes, and so on – which you will see in the photos later.
Normal Rates:
- Weekday Buffet Dinner – RM 122 nett per person
- Weekend Seafood Buffet Dinner (Friday & Saturday) RM 145 nett per person
Special Holiday Rates:
- Christmas Eve Seafood Dinner
RM 168 nett per person
RM 218 nett per person inclusive of free flow wine & bubbly - New Year’s Eve Seafood Dinner
RM 218 nett per person
RM 249 nett per person inclusive of free flow wine & bubbly
This will be a very photo-heavy post, as like for any other restaurant review, it’s the best way to present the buffet selection. In a nutshell, however, everything was perfect: the food selection was incredible as it was not only limited to seafood, but had local dishes, several meat dishes, cheeses, a sushi & sashimi selection, and tons of desserts to choose from. We got the one inclusive of free flow wine & bubbly too, so it made our dining experience even all the more special. And of course the service was great; a shout-out to Qham & the rest of the crew who made our experience incredibly enjoyable. And now onto the food!
Seafood Selection
Their seafood selection was incredible and everything was fresh. It’s important to note that I am highly allergic to seafood that’s not fresh; yet I had several lobsters, had a few of the claws of the Alaskan king crab, and had several of the other shellfish pictured below, but did not itch one bit – proving that all their seafood was indeed fresh and incredibly tasty!
Vegetable Selection
Though I don’t have photos, they also have a small section for stir fried vegetables dishes, should you be interested.

Meat Selection

Potatoes, Pies & Pasta
From left to right: Mashed Potatoes, Shepherd Pie, Potato Gratin, Lasagna
Local Dishes
There were about five local dishes; also not in photo: Chicken & Beef Satay
Bread & Cheese Selection
Fruit Selection
Specialty Dish Selection

Dessert Selection

In addition to the vast array of food selection listed above, they also offer the following:
- Crab & Prawn Takoyaki
- Truffle Mushroom Soup
- Salad Bar
- Noodle Station
- Grilled Vegetables Section
Note: Some dishes above may not be available during a regular seafood buffet dinner, as these photos were taken during the holiday season, as previously mentioned – specifically on Christmas Eve; but the crew reassured me that all of the seafood selections remain in tact for regular days.
My Favorites from the Buffet:
- Unlimited Bubbly (of course)
- Sushi & Fresh Sashimi from the Japanese Selection
- Lobster from the Seafood Selection
- Beef Wellington from the Meat Selection
- Blueberry Pie from the Dessert Selection
So all in all, if it’s not already obvious from the massive food presented in the photos above, you’ll surely get your money’s worth from this impressive buffet restaurant. Among all the buffet restaurants I’ve dined in, this surely has one of the top spots on the list. If you’re ever in Kuala Lumpur, make sure you don’t miss out on this great dining experience!
